The meaning behind “hygge”

Let me introduce you to the true meaning of “hygge”  …

La oss snakke om dette dansk/norske ordet som har tatt verden med storm. “Hygge”

Hygge er et undervurdert ord. Dette var en konklusjon jeg kom til  etter at jeg hadde stått opp, og sett et par episoder med krim, lest et par timer filosofi, og tatt en minimal luftetur med Amelia.

Hygge er å site under dynen i sofaen og se et par episoder til med krim. Drikke en god kopp med te og nyte livet. Ærlig. Dette er en genial oppfinnelse. Lenge leve “hygge”

Let’s talk about this Danish / Norwegian word that has taken the world by storm. “Hygge”

“Hygge” is an underestimated word. This was a conclusion I came to after I got up and saw a few episodes of crime, read a couple of hours of philosophy, and had taken a very minimalistic walk with Amelia.

“Hygge” is to sit under a blanket on the couch, and watch a couple of episodes more with this Crime series. Drink a good cup of tea, and enjoy life. Honestly. Long live “hygge”

Hygge (/ˈhjuːɡə/HEW-gə or /ˈhuːɡə/HOO-gə)

is a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and
comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment.

As a cultural category with its sets of associated practices hygge has more or less the same meanings in Danish and Norwegian,

but the notion is more central in Denmark than Norway. The emphasis on hygge
as a part of Danish culture is a  recent phenomenon,
dating to the late 20th century.
